Analyst (Environment)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning & Execution
- Plan and establish daily/weekly work schedules for the Environment Laboratory team to ensure timely completion of sample testing within the stipulated Turn-Around-Time (TAT).
- Perform analysis of allotted samples as per prescribed methods, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
- Ensure all test results are accurate, validated, and entered in the sample management software within the defined TAT.
2. Supervision & Quality Review
- Supervise analytical activities carried out by team members, review and cross-check raw data, validate and sign job sheets.
- Guide analysts in troubleshooting analytical challenges and demonstrate test methods when required.
- Support method validation and research activities to enhance laboratory testing scope.
3. Quality Management & Compliance
- Assist the Section In-Charge in reviewing, maintaining, and updating technical and quality documents in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, QMS, and other regulatory requirements.
- Participate in internal and external audits/assessments by customers, accreditation bodies, or regulatory authorities.
- Support in closing non-conformances and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Follow 5S principles to maintain an organized and safe laboratory environment.
4. Training & Competency Development
- Assist in planning and conducting training sessions on quality and technical aspects to enhance staff competency.
- Evaluate and ensure technical competency of testing personnel, maintaining related competency records.
5. Equipment & Calibration Management
- Perform and document in-house calibration, performance, and intermediate checks of laboratory instruments.
- Handle troubleshooting, breakdowns, and maintenance coordination for instruments and equipment.
- Assist in preparing annual calibration schedules and maintain calibration certificates for all equipment.
6. Sample & Material Management
- Ensure proper storage, retention, and disposal of samples, chemicals, and laboratory waste as per standard procedures.
- Maintain reference materials, standards, and records for preparation of intermediate and working stocks.
7. Reporting & Feedback
- Provide monthly feedback to the Section In-Charge regarding section performance, progress, and requirements.
- Report any deviations, non-conformances, or challenges affecting laboratory performance in a timely manner.
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (Environmental / Analytical / Industrial Chemistry) or any equivalent degree with specialization in Environmental Science.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience in an environmental testing laboratory or related analytical field.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of analytical techniques used in environmental testing (Water, Air, Soil, Waste, etc.)
