Senior Analyst – Environment
Job Description
Responsible for overseeing and performing environmental testing and analytical activities with a high degree of technical competence. Ensures adherence to approved methods, laboratory quality systems, testing timelines, and documentation requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee environmental testing and sample preparation activities for water, wastewater, soil, sludge, air, and other relevant environmental matrices as per approved methods and SOPs.
- Ensure testing activities are performed accurately, within stipulated TAT, and in compliance with applicable laboratory quality systems and procedures.
- Review raw data, observations, calculations, worksheets, LIMS entries, and other technical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with approved procedures.
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments relevant to assigned environmental testing activities, and ensure timely escalation of major equipment issues.
- Review calibration and performance check records of equipment and ensure required maintenance, calibration, and corrective actions are completed within defined timelines.
- Support investigation of deviations, atypical results, out-of-trend observations, equipment failures, sample abnormalities, and other technical issues, and assist in identifying appropriate corrective actions.
- Support preparation and review of stock solutions, calibration standards, quality control samples, reference materials, and other analytical requirements as applicable.
- Monitor laboratory quality control activities, proficiency testing, method performance, and other quality-related activities, and ensure required records are maintained.
- Guide, train, and supervise Analysts and Trainee Analysts in sample preparation, testing procedures, equipment handling, documentation, safety, and laboratory practices.
- Support the Section In-charge/Reporting In-charge in laboratory planning, workload allocation, resource requirements, technical problem-solving, process improvement, and implementation of laboratory quality requirements.
Qualification: M.Sc. in Chemistry (Any Branch), Environmental Science, Analytical Chemistry, or related discipline.
Experience: 6–8 years.
