Team Lead – Microbiology Laboratory 

Job Description  

Operational supervisor for the Microbiology section, ensuring daily workflow execution, resource allocation, review of results, compliance with quality systems, and section-level performance. 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Plan, allocate, and monitor microbiological testing activities to ensure timely completion and adherence to defined TATs.  
  • Oversee technical review processes, ensuring reviews are performed by authorized personnel and reviewer competency is maintained within the section.  
  • Ensure availability, suitability, and proper management of laboratory equipment, media, cultures, reference strains, reagents, and consumables.  
  • Monitor compliance with SOPs, GLP, biosafety requirements, aseptic practices, and laboratory quality systems.  
  • Lead daily operations, track performance metrics, investigate deviations, OOS/OOT results, contamination events, and customer complaints, and implement corrective and preventive actions.  
  • Manage training, competency assessments, and performance evaluation of microbiology personnel, including new joiners.  
  • Oversee quality assurance activities, including IQC, PT/ILC participation, environmental monitoring, culture maintenance, and trend analysis.  
  • Lead method development, verification, validation, and transfer activities for microbiological testing.  
  • Approve routine laboratory requisitions and support the evaluation, qualification, and procurement of laboratory equipment, consumables, and vendors. 

Qualification: M.Sc. in Microbiology, Applied Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Food Microbiology, or a related discipline. 

Experience: 8–10 years of experience in a Food Testing, Environmental Testing, Pharmaceutical, or NABL-accredited Microbiology Laboratory.
